looking at Southern California and Las Vegas

I have begun planning my route through California and my obligatory trip to Las Vegas.  Since I don't gamble I have never been interested in Vegas.  But I want to see the new bridge at the Hoover Dam and the Dam itself.  I have to see the strip and then there are select hotels.

In California I have to see Hearst Castle, drive the Coast Highway, see San Juan de Capistrano.  I can skip the San Diego Zoo and Sea World as I have already done them.  I need to go to Los Angeles to get to the Getty Museum.

I need more suggestions.

Latest progress on location choices

I have been through the book on Illinois, Ohio and Indiana.  Indiana doesn't seem to have anything of real interest if you aren't interested in car racing.  If anyone knows anything else please let me know.

Illinois and Ohio are full of exciting sites.

The next book I picked up is Texas.  I'm sure I'll find plenty to see but if you know small gems let me know about them.

Start of the location collection

My guests Judi and Ann gave me a whole lot of places to see in Kentucky, Oklahoma,Utah and Colorado. In Minnesota I have to search out the Spam Museum.

I put up my US map  in my office.  It looks quite intimidating.  Judi and Ann made a great suggestion that I get a US map, mount on foam board and give it to my grandchildren with colored push pins.

Beginning of my adventure

Not much going on yet but hold on.  If you have suggestions for things for me to see please let me know.  My next steps are to buy a full US map and put it up on a wall.  That way I can start the process of planning my route.
